lost a screw in the defroster vent!!!!!!!!

So I think I could be fighting a big problem very soon.... As it says above I had one of my rear view mirror screws fall into the defroster vent ( passenger side ) on top of the dash. I am in the process of installing my second skin kit, and this happened. I tried to look thru the windshield to see if I could see it, but it went all the way down, no chance of using a magnet stick or a claw, can't even see it.

Has anyone been that far into the dash ? Will it get into my fan and cause problems? Is there a panel or something I can pull under the dash to get it out? I saw a few access hatches on the fan assembly under the passenger side of the dash, but I have no idea what is where as far as the ac ducts go.

Aside from that, I stripped out all of the interior , except the dash, in 2:45 hrs. tonight. I even got the headliner out. It was fairly simple to do it all, and tomorrow I start at 8 a.m. with the damplifier pro ( 196 sq. ft. ) the gallon of spectrum, and the 36 sq. ft. of overkill pro. I will get pics up as I progress over the next two days.

Re: lost a screw in the defroster vent!!!!!!!!

I seriously doubt that your AWOL screw is going to cause any damage. We've all lost precious items into the mouth of the hungry defoster vent. There shouldn't be any way at all that the screw could work its way backwards to the blower fan.

BTW, have you tried a mini-magnet on a string??

Re: lost a screw in the defroster vent!!!!!!!!

no issues. i have lost sockets in there before, lol. especially when doing work in big rigs. get another screw. the only thing that might bug me is if it were to start moving around and making noise. but i bet it will find a spot and settle down there.
