Cheap and fast interior lighting improvement

Bought a pack of 3 puck lights (thanks FJ4me) from Costco today for $13. They have velcro or screw attachment and uses 3 AAA batteries each. They have 5 LEDs in each puck. The lights can be set to turn on according ambient light or keep it in manual mode. I added 2 lights to the front. One light for each of the front passengers. I set them about 7 inches in rearward of the visors and midline to each passenger. Each light took about 3 minutes to install. I opted to use both velcro AND the screw. They can be rotated and tilted 30 degrees (like the lights in airplanes). Useful for reading or ambient light. They are bright but not blindingly so.

Here are some comparison pictures. Camera on tripod. Shutter speed is 1 second@5.6 aperture.

I may be adding 2 more lights over the cargo area. The pictures were taken with the lights straight down with zero tilt. They have a very diffused pattern so tilting isn't really necessary. One of the best $13 I've ever spent.

Nice. Currently the Piaa T-6s are doing it for me, but if I drastically need light down the road I'll opt for some of these puckies.

Re: Cheap and fast interior lighting improvement

I've seen this before. And I actually bought a three pack 7 months ago and ended up installing them over my work bench.

Time to buy some more...

Thanks Tony!!

Re: Cheap and fast interior lighting improvement

That's a lot of AAA batteries to keep track of. I wonder if there is a way to tap into the overhead light wiring for these? I like the smal LED lights, but I also like to have them wired instead. Does anyone know if this wired LED mod exits already?

Re: Cheap and fast interior lighting improvement

Although they use a lot of batteries, they will last a long time. I wouldn't bother wiring them up. That would defeat the simplicity of these pucks. If they last 10 hours each, and you use them for 3 min a day, you'll get 6 months out of these.
