Ha Granger we posted them at the same time. I win.

Actually I take that back, you can afford $1500 for a roof rack. You win.

They have also kicked around making one that does not have the roof light loop for those that do not want lights on the roof. The proposed rack will still accept lights, but should look better then a standard Gobi rack if you go without.

Wow! Good looking rack. I really like how they made good use of space.

Yeah, they are good looking. They may be more pricey than the stock one but it looks much more functional in terms of storage capacity and flexible rack accessory options. Definately one to keep an eye on.

Re: GOBI Roof Rack for the FJ Cruiser

Hey guys/ gurls. 1st post for me here.

I work with GOBI. I am glad to see interest on the FJ racks. We hope to have all the racks available very soon for you all. Once we're up and running, we'd like to contribute to the forrum.

You've already seen the stealth and full size racks. We will also have a tire rack down the road too. If you have seen the H2/H3HUMMERS with these racks, it will look close to that in design.

Someone had a questions above about tents up there and how much weight the rack can hold.

DISCLAIMER: Always go by factory weight capaciites.

I have had several people up on the H2 and H3 racks. That well suported expanded mesh floor is very strong, with everyone up on there, it didn't move in the least bit. But i know there was way more weight up there than factory specs. You could attach a tent up there, but I'd be afraid of rolling out the bag.

Any of you here in the CO area (Denver or Springs)? I don't own an FJ, but would love for you FJ owners (and others) to hook up with us HUMMER owners to do some wheelin. We go into Moab twice a year and some shorter day or weekend trips up in the Breck area.

Great site BTW! If anyone has questions, please let me know,
Tim.

I agree. The chance that Gobi was going to make a rack caused me to cancel my factory roof rack order when my truck was sitting in port. Luckily my dealership's inventory manager was cool about it.

I do a lot of backpacking and more often then not my truck is the pack mule for the group. The factory rack's cross bars didn't offer me the coverage I needed to haul around gear for 10 to 15 ppl.

Also, the Gobi's crossbars are designed to accept Yakima add-ons so for those that want to add bike and kayak carriers it shouldn't be a problem.
