Hey! Thats a bit harsh. My reaction was the exact opposite, as I thought: "Ahh I love Canada. I need to get back and visit." AND I raised the idea of a trip there to my GF. Im American through and through, but Canada is a great place with top notch people.

Ive never felt good about taking a life, but I recognize guns are crucial in many situations in any country. Mike, I probably dont need to tell you this but practice grabbing that gun from its holster often: it's a bit of a reach around to get your arm back behind the center console. Im surprised you didnt mount it up under the steering wheel.

PS I think there's a sticker you can get to let other LE know your rig is carrying. Check it out.
I have long arms, I tried it a few times, it works fantastic. It's not as bad as you would think. It has very easy access. P.S. I agree, I have some great friends that are from Canada, like FJoel

Shadow me likey, its very similar to what I have done. I like the serpa as well, I orginally got one in Carbon fiber for the 1911, I like it so much I also went and found a tan Serpa for my G-23, and foilage for the XD. I hadn't thought of using it for my mod though..... now you have me thinking.....

Well good job anyway.
Thanks

Yeah,
The last time I was crossed intoThe Great White North with my rifles I mentioned to the Border Guards that they were wearing kevlar vests but no guns...and wasn't that a bit of a psychological quandry since it only allowed them to effectively receive bullets but not deliver them? They frowned and responded...America won't invade us anytime soon, if they did the price of their marijuana would double and they'd no longer have good beer to drink!

From my experience, the Eastern portions of Canada has a very different perspective on firearms from the rest of Canada.
They do have a good sense of humor

Re: Concealed Handgun Mount

Nice install Mike. That holster has the retention thing doesn't it? Any problem getting your finger on the release?

Besides the DeSantis Kingston car seat holster I have on the drivers seat, I have a holster in the door pocket. It is a basic nylon holster, with a metal belt clip for LH carry. I simply slid the clip onto the door panel. The door pocket is shallow, so only my baby Glock will fit there. But thinking of maybe attaching a better holster with screws.

Now if I can say this w/o sparking a huge debate... I understand that state laws vary regarding telling the LEO if you are carrying. Here in NM there is no requirement. I have asked the local cops I see at work what they like to see. Most say they don't want to know. If a person has a CCW, well they aren't the people the cops worry about.

I am with you regarding the fact that there is always something within reach. And I will not live in NY or CA either. I like it here, can carry openly most anywhere. Vehicle carry is fine to, even concealed w/o a CCW.

Re: Concealed Handgun Mount

I live in Arkansas, But I decided to go with a Texas CCW. The reason was that Texas has the most States that have a Recep agreements, the only better one is to have a Florida, which carries the most States. AR dosn't have Recep with LA. And LA dosn't have recep with AR. So I got a Texas non-resident that has recep in both States, since I work in LA and live in AR.

The SERPA is a very fast rig, you do need to practice with it. I have been using the SERPA system as a duty holster for a while now and love how it locks the weapon in place.

Re: Concealed Handgun Mount

Nice setup.
I remember a thread where a guy mounted his shotgun with an electric release to a box he built behind the front seats. also nice.

Ya, I hear ya. That's also why I got the Utah CCW too. Flying to Georgia in a week. They don't accept NM, but do UT. Of course I'll bring one of my handguns. Got a copy of the state laws packed too.

Yeah this is a very well thought out design. As you place your hand on the grip of the firearm, your finger should always be naturally orriented straight along the side of the frame, this is exactly where the retention button is located. It also has an adjustment screw so you can set the tension for how hard you need to press the release. So as you press the release and draw, your thumb is in place (not unsnapping and finding its way back) and your trigger finger doesn't need to move as you index on target.

Re: Concealed Handgun Mount

I 'm glad the you guys love the Serpa, I have gone through two and I like the quick draw but they fall apart rather quickly and won't work at all if they get mud in the release button.

Re: Concealed Handgun Mount

Ok, I also carry religiously. I have a G22, G27 and my fav is my S&W Air weight .357 (A.K.A. Flamethrower). I tote youngsters around most the time so I keep mine locked or on me. As a L.E.O. I love the fact that law abiding citizens carry for their safety just as long as they do it lawfully, and never leave their piece accessible to a kid or a thug.
