Thanks, Engine Jen!!

"Teardrop" spotlights would look too cool on the FJ. Post up some pics when you get it done.

Tell me about it . . . . I still have nightmares about a giant drill bit coming through the back of my steering wheel.

Re: SPOTLIGHT (Post-Mounted): Installation w/ lots of pics!!

Just now saw this thread.

You've got balls of solid rock my friend. Of course, judging from what you do for a living, drilling a couple holes in your vehicle is nothing.

Fantastic install. Well done.

Howls,
Wolf

Re: SPOTLIGHT (Post-Mounted): Installation w/ lots of pics!!

I just got back from my garage having this installed. Only have to go back to hook up the wiring (ran out of time for the day). Took five hours to do the drilling, installation and tinkering around with it. Luckily my friend is the mechanic so won't have to pay five hours of labor! It was something definitely beyond my capabilities of doing, but I really wanted it. There was a modification that needed to be done to the brace for the grab handle. The post was hitting it, so the brace had to have some of it's plate cut off. But all else went as in the original instructions which I printed and gave to my friend. I asked him which instructions were most helpful and that he turned to the most...either the Forum ones or the ones in the box of parts. He liked the ones from the Forum post the best! So great job, and I love my post mounted spot light!!

Great!! So happy to hear that the forum came to the rescue.

Be sure to post up some pics in this thread of your final results.

Re: SPOTLIGHT (Post-Mounted): Installation w/ lots of pics!!

Hi Steve,

Here are the pictures of my post mounted spotlight installed. I love it! It's wired to a fuse that will run off battery, so the FJ doesn't need to be on to light it up. Also, my friend who installed it thought the range of motion (play) going back and forth was a little limited, so he ground the post slot more open so it can swivel about two inches further than normal.

I could never have done this myself, that's for sure!

A plus I wasn't expecting is it's awesome at lighting up behind you when you're backing up!

I can't tell everyone enough about how awesome this forum is! I get so many ideas off of it. Hopefully I'm doing my share of trying to return some!
