Custom RED SwissArmySuv Map Lights + Oznium 5mm Flex LEDs

I installed my custom red LED SwissArmySuv map light console last night. I can't say enough about the quality of the product and installation guide that Kevin provides. I know others have heaped praise on his workmanship and it is clearly well deserved!

I asked for red because I do quite a bit of driving at night and red lighting really saves your night vision. There is a reason that pilots/military use red or green lighting for tactical application.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that my Audi change holder fit almost perfectly into the console facade!

I had been on the Oznium waiting list for the superbright flexible LEDs for a few weeks but decided to go with their more economical 5mm LED flex panel. I have no regrets. The panels fit snugly into the domes and give off plenty of very white light.

Here are some pictures of the console and Ozniums:

I should mention that SwissArmySuv ordered a few extra red LEDs. So, if anyone else is interested - let him know. From what I can tell from pictures, the white LEDs are much brighter but the reds are great if you need to use them on darker backroads.

I was hoping to see some pictures on these and see how they turned out .. those look really good.

I just got my scangauge today and I think I may have to make myself a scangauge version with the red leds.

Thanks for the post.

07/20/2008 Note: I am out of the red leds and will no longer be offering them.

Now you are going to have to use red light readable maps.

Looks pretty cool!

Reminds me a little of the lighting in the Japanese car on Cannonball Run
