Wondering if anyone has extended their dead pedals or done something to make it more useful.
Was wheeling on mud and gravel and had to stop quickly (tree stump) thus activating my ABS. The ABS kicked in, then did the 2' hop skip roll then activated the brakes again. As my truck nose dived, my foot slipped off the dead pedal and my shin slammed into my hood release latch. Ouch!
After I returned home I had to hose off the mats to remove the blood and took a closer look at the factory dead pedal. What a useless stump!
Anyone do anything to theirs to make it more useful? perhaps replacing it with something a bit longer or knurled at the top to prevent feet from slipping? Would prefer not to pick up one of the bling billet steps with rubber nubs, but if thats the only thing available, well...
They are all rubber as the OEM, but with
the top metal molded right onto the pedal,
with rubber studs sticking thru for grip...
Very Sweet looking and Working...
One thing I did not know till I went to put
them on, is the the OEM gas pedal does not
have a cover, but is just a plastic piece, so
adding the cover to that help out with grip...
They are Very well Made, Go on Secure and
Easy, well, I did the non-lube method, and,
just slipped them over the top of the pedals,
then lifting over the rubber edge going from top
to bottom till they were on... THEY WILL NOT
Slip or Fall off !!!
Basically they are the exact same covers as the
OEM brake and clutch rubber pedals, installing
the exact same way as OEM, But you get the
metal finish with rubber grips and a gas pedal
cover that OEM does not provide...
Thanks Matt !!!... Great Deal !!!
PS: My Camera Dies 2 weeks ago...
SORRY FOR No Picts... Now where is Scarlett
when you need her ehh !!!
I don't understand why everyone refers to anything metal to bling. I'm trying to replace any plastic part I can with brushed aluminum parts. I like to dress up the inside of my rig, but I would not refer to anything I have on my rig as bling. I can see where chrome starts to make the issue more nebulous, but brushed aluminum? It isn't even shiny! Oh well, if everyone thinks its bling then I guess I'm into bling. Anyone know where I can find a platinum and diamond toyota emblem for my new chain?

I think he is talking about the rubber mount on the floor.....
Ahh... Gotcha... There is prolly allot you can do
to mod that, I guess you could add some screws
to act like tire snow spikes, or add a metal plate
to the top with what ever coating you like, make
the non-skid skateboard stuff... If you have the
AT5, then you could add a larger plate to it, or
even remove it altogether and add something else...

Our Audi and Volvo has them and they are higher (off the floor) and are grippier. They are in a comfortable spot for your left foot to rest against. I haven't seen a mod for the FJ.

Exactly. It's the little foot rest where you put your left foot on.
As for 'bling', I've found with the brushed aluminum (billet) makes the surface more slippery than the stock rubber pedal it covers. Though most offer brushed pedals with rubber nubs, I find my foot slipping off the edges when heel toe downshifting.
But anyways I digress. It's not the pedals I'm griping about, it's the stubby dead pedal. When going down nose first down an incline I use it to stand on top of to ensure I dont slip onto the accelerator or slam on the brakes. Since it's short and can get quite slippery when wet, I'm concerned I'll slip off. Anyways, I've got a sweet cut on my left shin/knee. The ladies love scars, right?
