GO Rhino Dominator2 Side Bars

I bought a set of GoRhino Black Dominator2 side bars in May 2007 and it is now March 2008 and the paint is all peeled off and the bars are rusting. I live in Vermont and the conditions are harsh (a ton of snow and a lot of road salt & sand) but, still to have the finish last only 9 months seems a little much.

I talked to GoRhino and they have agreed to send me a new set (I have to pay shipping $75), but they said that due to where I lived that it would probably just happen again ! They suggested that I get the powdercoating clearcoated before I reinstall the new set. I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with these and if there were any "tricks" that other members may have to help this from happening again.

I've been told that stripping them and then using a spray on bedliner is a good way to prevent rust problems. I guess it is pretty easy to touch the bedliner up if it get scratched off.
