installed fire extinguisher in the rear cargo

I went to Menard's and got this small fire extinguisher good for petrol fires and electrical fires. It looks cool with it being white and my car white also. Hopefully I will never need to use it but just in case i have it.

Re: installed fire extinguisher in the rear cargo

I have a very good one in the FJ in case there is an electrical fire, it will not hurt the wiring.

I also have a second one for fires outside of the rig, it will harm the wiring.

Here is the single post from my build up thread.

Corey's FJ with a few mods!

Its a great idea to carry one for an emergency.

Re: installed fire extinguisher in the rear cargo

Looks nice! There was a thread a while back on this. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS in FJ???

Some really good info, and pics of my install. I like the idea of carrying a fire extinguisher. I just mounted one, and a smoke detector in the tent trailer I bought. Two weeks from now I'll be in Moab!

Re: installed fire extinguisher in the rear cargo

I recommend a larger fire extinguisher. The smaller ones just don't hold much.

I bought a large Quick Fist to secure a large fire extinguisher but I'm always leery of placing new holes in the FJ. Then, I discovered that putting holes in my tool box wasn't nearly as troubling and holds a larger unit just fine...

This spot makes for very easy access... Open the rear door and it's there.

Re: installed fire extinguisher in the rear cargo

The thing is im not putting a bunch of stuff in the back tools wise and boxes. I carry my dog in the back on a daily basis and i like to keep it free for her to go in the back. Ill just keep this for now it should be fine.

Re: installed fire extinguisher in the rear cargo

Cool. What type of dog is this? Does he/she like off roading? I ask as I would like to have another dog to be with me on camping trips.

I have a Kidde from Wal Mart that is grey/silver and almost matches the upper interior trim. I mounted it exactly like the Irishman.
