I finally got around to putting a rear hitch on my rig. The factory hitch fits perfectly with the WARN rear bumper. It was a pain to install though because I had to pull the bumper in order to mount the hitch. If you are planning to get the Warn rear end, install your hitch before you put the bumper on!! Here is a couple pics.
Finally a aftermarket bumper that you can use ur stock hitch.Looks good.I dont know why other bumpers require a different hitch system.Prob just want to make more money.....
I'm stoked that Metal-Tech integrated the hitch into the bumper. better clearance and the bumper is bolted on to the frame at like 10 points, much more than most aftermarket hitches.
Good to know for the folks who had the stock hitch already though. Warn is Quality.
Keep in mind, if you bought your FJ from South East Toyota (Virginia down to Florida), you probably don't have a "factory" hitch - it's a Reese. And these do not work with the Warn bumper.
Thanks for pointing that out Manhattan. The Hitch in the photo is the little one that just bolts on to the back of the frame. It isn't like the ones that actually span and bolt to the side frame rails. I'm not a huge fan of the Warn front end either. It is nice that you can use larger winches and the powerplant winch with it though. I'm really happy with the warn rear bumper. It is really solid and well made. It really protects the rear end well. My only complaint is that you have to do some cutting to the plastic behind the rear wheels to install the bumper. I would prefer if they had designed it to bolt on with no cutting like many other rear bumpers. I LOVE my FabFours front end!
The Warn rear bumper works with the backup sensors. I have mine in there and they work fine even though I almost never use them. You can actually see them in the picture I posted. The little disks on the inside of each D-ring are the backup sensors. So go ahead and order the Warn!
I put my rear warn bumper on yesterday and really like the looks ,my only complaint is the way the trim shows above the bumper.Ill figure something out to cover it .Do the rear warn bumpers have any adjustment at all? Mine slipped on like a glove and had no lee-way at all for any other movement. All holes lined up so im assuming theres no adjustment to line up with trim at all.
Before you tighten everything use some jacks to raise it up and align it with the side cover trim. I like mine a lot and I also put some reflectors in the "W" holes and bought some 3/4" shackles and mounted them on the back using some 3/4" hose shims to keep them from swinging or making any noise. Along with the tow hitch I couldn't have asked for more...
The fabfours rear also has an integrated hitch, but I like the looks of the Warn better. Congratulations on the new bumper! No it doesn't adjust. At least as far as I know it doesn't. Can you post a pic of the trim that you are talking about showing? Also, I'd like to see how your cuts look behind the wheels. Have fun with it!
I got mine installed and noticed that the tail pipe rattles (5mm clearance) against the mounting bolts on the bottem side of the bumper. Did any one else have this and if so did you just bend the tail pipe?
