Could one use any of the existing wires in the AUX lights unused multi-pin to energize the switch for say- ARB fogs ? Instead of running ALL new wires.?
I don't see why not. The FJ's are all pre-wired with wiring harnesses to accommodate additional lighting, so it would just be a matter of tracing the appropriate wire that leads from the multi-pin switch connector to the location of the AUX light relay (which is within the engine compartment fuse box). From there, a dedicated relay for your ARB lights could be triggered by an OEM switch in the switch panel.

It is true that French Roast coffee is the life blood of LandCruiserSteve.

My pleasure, Two-Sheds.

Post something up on your light installation / wiring when you get it done.

Re: DASH, CONSOLE & DOOR PANELS REMOVAL: Instructions w/ pics

The following photos and procedure courtesy of EschObfus and his great write-up thread Rear door storage/panel removal (This additional procedure has been added to Post #34 of this thread.)

Rear door panel:

Open both the rear door and window. You won't be able to pull the panel off unless the window is open.

There are two circular access covers at the top corners that can be removed with a small screwdriver w/ a rag over it used to pry it up from the bottom. There are also two covers at the base of the shocks that hold the window open. Those can be removed using the same technique. Remove the two screws that were under the covers you first removed.

The entire panel is held on from here on using plastic push clips. Pick a corner (I started at the upper right) and slowly inch your way around the perimeter pulling back towards yourself. There is one clip that is almost dead center in the panel. There are felt washers on the lower push clips, so take your time as to not break anything or lose those washers.

You are going to have to lift the panel up because it is resting on the window latch mechanism. Put the panel on a large towel or some surface that won't scratch the soft plastic as you work on it.

Rear door panel re-installation:

Attach the panel by first placing the top over the latch mechanism then work around the edges getting all of the clips to snap in their holes then hit the few center portions to get the center clips. Screw the two screws in, reattach the window shock covers, and reattach the screw covers (there is an orientation arrow on the back of them).

My pleasure, col.

My sole mission in life is to get every single dangling wire in every single FJ hidden.

Re: DASH, CONSOLE & DOOR PANELS REMOVAL: Instructions w/ pics

This is a nice discussion.

Here's my question. There is a large blank panel on the dashboard in front of the passenger, sandwiched between the glove compartment and the passenger airbag.

In my FJ, this areas just screams out for me to mount my accessories.

Has anyone pulled this panel off? Looking up from the glove compartment, it looks like there is already a lot of "crap" up there, so one could not mount anything very deep into the dash.

But it would sure be nice if I could either mount some equipment on the panel, or drill holes through the panel for mounting brackets that could then mount on a more solid surface inside the dash.

Thanks!

Question Re: DASH, CONSOLE & DOOR PANELS REMOVAL: Instructions w/ pics

Thanks for the great write up! Im curious on how to remove the colored faceplate from the back passenger doors? This might have been mentioned in the previous ghost post where all the pics were, but alas the post is gone

Re: DASH, CONSOLE & DOOR PANELS REMOVAL: Instructions w/ pics

I removed most of left the interior dark-grey lower panel today. Took pics. If I get the rest removed, I'll do a writeup. I got overheated, and I had already found out what I needed for my current project.
