why would you put this on your hood?

Unless hood surfing is becoming a popular sport I don't understand the purpose of this thing. I can't even think of a name for it. Anyway was driving home today and had seen this at the local dealership. My first thought was why in Florida, the "sunshine state", would you want a mirror on your hood. Unless you like driving blinded into a setting sun. Pointless is all that comes to mind here.

WHY?

It looks pretty stupid to me, but so do all the other chrome accessories you'll find on EBay if you just search for "FJ Cruiser".

Personal preference I guess, it looks to me like a boilerplate off of something.

Re: why would you put this on your hood?

because someone wants the hummer's hood pulls.. you know, because the FJ's hood opens the opposite direction that the hummer's do.

Re: why would you put this on your hood?

After thinking about it I came up with a purpose for this. It's so you can open the hood from the roof.

Re: why would you put this on your hood?

Maybe it's removable and that is where the (optional) blower motor pokes up through the hood!
