Overhead console's
Does anyone know of an aftermarket co. making overhead console's for the FJ? I have seen the thread's on the one for the Taho. I would be looking for something big enough for 2 radio's. I have one in the mid-mod stage in the garage now. I opened the entire mid section to fit the Mobil scanner & CB, also mounted water temp & oil pressure guages where the cil. controls were. Looks OK for now(needs finish touch up stuff), funtion not fashion sort of deal. The problem is: 1- the fit to headliner could be better, I have tried trimming. 2- the weight of the unit. & 3- Mounting it is not very easy, with everything bolted in there is no way to get the heavier screws in to mount it to cross bars, real tight fit. If anyone has seen a universal or one for the FJ, let me know. I would not mind dropping the project & buying a ready to use one at this time. Any info on this would be great.
SwisArmy makes one for the FJ, but it is pretty small. I don't think you could possibly fit all that stuff in their console. I wish tuffy would come up with something! I've seen some nice custom jobs using various Chevy consoles. I have a friend who is experienced at doing carbon fiber work. May look into a custom made glass or carbon deal.

I would be interested in a console that is larger and similar to that chevy console as well..............nothing too fancy, but could hold a radio, scan guage, gps, whatever as well as misc storage, map lights, homelink, etc.
Maybe i am just dreaming but hey that is where great ideas start.

Re: Overhead console's
I do have a few design idea's but that's as far as I can go. ToledoFJ- check out the PM I sent you. If he were to come up with a nice overhead console, I'm sure lots of members here would hop on them, it would be worth while for him, I think...

Me as well if there was a little bit bigger one with more features it would be great. Especially more lights the FJ is to dark can’t read stuff. Either there isn’t enough light inside or my big head is just blacking it ha ha ha!
Someone on this forum did a chevy or gmc overhead console and posted the install . I read it here somewhere and I can't find it either .

Here's the overhead console REDBOAT was remembering, I think. It's good sized, but I don't know if it would hold all that stuff and the kitchen sink. It'd also need to tie into more than 1 of the cross pieces under the roof, to support all the weight.
I have a friend , he specialized in Toyota Roof Consoles.
Soon he start to make for FJ Cruiser because in my country this car was launched in December 2007.
Actually his company make 3 different models for Toyota Land Cruiser 70,80 and 90 Series.
Its very easy to install , No Drill !!!
If anyone are interested please let me know.
