Wet Okole "Stitching"

I was so excited...my Wet Okole's shipped and they were scheduled to be here while I was on business trip. I got back today...and there the box was in all of it's glory. I opened them and saw the black and school bus yellow colors in all their glory. I almost felt a tear of joy fall down my cheek. Then I looked at the stitching of the FJ cruiser logo in detail. It is not a stitching but rather an iron on piece of felt type material. Is this what I should be expecting or should it be something different? It looks nice but i am worried about long term durability.

Any thoughts out there?

Re: Wet Okole "Stitching"

You can't embroider Neoprene(wet suit) material, that is why it is iron on...it is mentioned in the GBIII Thread.

If they were to embroider the way you are thinking, they would have ruined the covers. When you sit in the seat, the stress on the holes where the thread would have gone, would have ended up causing the covers to rip. The material cannot take the stress that the embroidery would have given it. It is not made for that. Trust me, the iron on logo is the way to go.

BTW I come from a long line of seamstresses and quilters in my family so I understand the issue. Enjoy your covers!

That's the way it is. I thought it looked cheap and would have skipped the logo if I knew in advance that it was just a stick-on.

Parts of the logo on my driver's seat cover peeled off almost immediately after installation. I couldn't find the missing pieces, so I had to color in the missing parts w/a Sharpie. Looked ok from a distance, but it's definitely a noticeable difference. Another problem I had was excessive wear at the bottom of the upper cover where my wallet rubbed against it. The cover developed a bunch of fuzz balls and looked quite worn at that spot. This was only after about 6 months of use, so I was disappointed.

I sold the covers to another Forum member. Just one of those mods that didn't work for me.

Same with mine. Not a big deal to me. I still love those covers.

I believe my fiance loves her wet O's as well. As for the iron on, I just put the Wet Okole flame on there. I've had mine for over a year now from GBII. Good covers. I wish they had come out with OEM covers like they have for the TACO's.

Re: Wet Okole "Stitching"

Well...I hear what y'all are saying so when i got home from work...i put em on.

It did not take as long as I expected after reading the forums...

The black and yellow look great in the Sun Fusion. I too would probably have opted out of the logo as it is not stitched and apparently cant be. If it does not hold up i will deal with Wet O.

But so far I love the look...and they do have a bit more padding which makes them rather comfortable.

Thumbs up Re: Wet Okole "Stitching"

Had mine for about a year now. Yellow FJ logo has held up well. Love 'em.
