Re: HID Mirror Lights

Like I previously posted, I'm not planning on driving on the street with these on I have switched them independent of the headlights. Think of them like any other light you would mount for extra OFF ROAD visibility. The question of overheating and melting is a good point, ill have to watch that.

Re: HID Mirror Lights

The ballast is in the door panel attached with some pretty heavy duty double sided tape.

Re: HID Mirror Lights

I took some pics along the way of the install since its not a plug and play operation. If you look into it they may make an HID bulb that directly replaces that stock bulb. If you want a white light you need the 6000k spectrum bulbs, mine are the 8000k which are blue and if you get 10000k those are purple. I can post the pics if anyone wants to see, Im getting mixed reviews on this mod.

Re: HID Mirror Lights

i think i will stick with PIAA in there or Sylvarstars for that much money...having enough issue with other cars as my truck sits window high from rear of most so no matter how the lights are adjusted it is going to light up their inside like high noon. makes it easy to see the girl with her head in her boyfriends lap jump up at stop light at night all embarrassed and he is pissed as my low beams highlight their activity.....LMAO

Re: HID Mirror Lights

How about some pics of the fitment ?? 9005 bulbs are huge compared to the 194 wedge bulbs that are jammed in the mirror stock. And what about the ballast / ignitor ?? I'm having a difficult time perceiving where you were able to mount the components, so it would be great to see some pics of the install.

For what its worth, the factory wedge bulb is 3W output, and the HID is usually 35W output, so keep a watch on the plastic lens for signs of distortion / melting. And check to see if the addt'l heat is affecting the wiring / mounts for the mirror itself - could be an expensive upgrade if you have to keep replacing mirror assemblies.... Looks awesome in the pic

Re: HID Mirror Lights

Ill post some install pics shortly, the ballasts are in the door. It does look like im going to need to get some glass lenses to mount, I can see some distortion from the heat.
