wet okole seat cover question

i just installed my wet okole seat covers and ran into a couple minor fitment issues. the hole in my seat cover for the armrest does not line up with the hole in the seatback...not even close. if i stretch it to line it up, it just bunches real badly in front of the hole. i am probably going to cut a new hole to line it up. my main question is regarding the wire run for the airbags in the seatbacks. what did you guys with airbag seats end up doing? did you cut a slit in the flap of the seat cover? thanks!

edit: one more thing...how many holes are there supposed to be for the armrest on the seat back cover? mine has one hole, but it seems like there should be another hole for the medal stud that protrudes from the seat back as well...so, seems like there should be a big hole and a little hole.

Re: wet okole seat cover question

I have the wet o's as well. I only had one hole for the armrest in the side of the cover. It fit perfectly. Before you cut holes in the cover to line it up, I would call Wet O and get one of their folks on the phone. I do believe if you cut them, you may well void your warranty.

I got the fronts first and then got the backseat covers in the last group buy. I had no problems with either set.

Re: wet okole seat cover question

Dont go cutting if it doesn't fit right. Call Wet Okole and get ones that work properly. They cost a pretty penny and you shouldn't have to compromise.
I've got them and they fit perfectly. I am sure they will send you out arm rest pieces that work. My dealings with Wet Okole have been that customer service was very good.

Re: wet okole seat cover question

This is interesting.

If it is a new cover, I would just make sure I put it on correctly and, if I did, would take measurements and, if they don't spec out, send it back to Okole for a new one.

HOWEVER, when I removed my front Okoles (which I've sold), a NEW hole just outside the big hole for the arm rest was created around the arm rest spindle and I had to snip the fabric between the "new" hole and the factory arm rest hole to release it. Never could figure out how that happened, but didn't spend much time trying to figure it out. The "snip" can be resewn by the new buyer and, after it's reinstalled, you probably won't even notice it tucked in on the inside of the driver's seat.

So, long story short, if you don't want to send the cover back to Okole for correction, cutting and resewing it properly "may" be an alternative solution. Good luck!

Re: wet okole seat cover question

thanks guys, i just called wet okole and the tech said that it would not harm if i were to cut the hole bigger...just to use care. he also said to try to slide the seatback cover on with the armrest on, which others on the forum did. it just seemed much easier to take off the armrest, but i guess there is a reason to slide on seat back cover with armrest in place for a reason.

yeah check into it before you go and cut something. I think that was one of their questions through the custom order process about airbags.... hmmm call 'em

Re: wet okole seat cover question

funny, I was just going to post a question about wo seat covers myself. I've had the front in for a while and love them. My rear set arrived yesterday, but I'm having a problem installing. First of all they don't have any instructions..... seems to be pretty typical of aftermarket stuff. When putting on the seat back covers, you need to push the fabric under the seat back so it can velcro to the back of the seat. The problem is that there is a seatbelt in the way, so I can't pass the fabric under the seatback. Do I need to cut it there so it can slide through?

I unbolted my seatbelt at the base of the seat on the passenger side. Then, slide the seatbelt through the hole and wallah! It worked perfectly. Just remember to crank down pretty good on the bolts at the seatbelt base when you put them back into place. They are seatbelts, after all, you want to make sure that they are good and tight.
