Manik TL Guards and Bandi Mount

Just a heads-up...

Yesterday I noticed my Manik TL guard front tab was not under the TL and the guard was hanging by the two rear tabs. I bungied it to hold it till this morning.

As I was re-installing, I took a good look, and it turns out the CB antenna connector was the culprit. I had modified the mount as described elsewhere to swing over the guard, but when the tailgate is opened the cable connector (NOT the Bandi mount, the Bandi mount hits NOTHING) hit the guard and nudged it forward a bit. I've had the Bandi mount/cable back on for about a week now, so I guess the multiple nudges (and not very much) eventually worked the front tab out.

Been having trouble getting my hands on a camera to post pictures.

I don't have a fix yet, and not sure exactly what I'm going to do. I disconnected the antenna and will connect it again when I need it and try to limit how much I open the tailgate. At least until I have a fix.

Question for anyone who know...

Is the fat part of the Manik Guard solid or hollow? If it's solid I might just grind off a bit of the corner.

Re: Manik TL Guards and Bandi Mount

I was able to cut off oh about 3/8" to 1/2" off the bottom edge of the part of the Bandi Mount that hangs out and have not had any problems with the mount contacting the guard. Are you sure you took enough off the Bandi mount?

It's not the mount itself. I cut enough off. The mount is fine. It's the cable connector that screws into the antenna.

Dunno what the deal was, but they're back. We just did a pretty big group buy on these.

Unless they went bankrupt in the last week or so.

Exactly the diagram I used, and it works great.

Not what I'm talking about.

Reading is fundamental!

Re: Manik TL Guards and Bandi Mount

Ah now I see what you are talking about...a picture is worth more than a thousand words

That being said, at first I didn't understand when you were talking about your cable connector hitting the guard...mine can't possibly hit the guard because my cable is routed back through the hinge area to the cavity between the door and the body. It is never exposed to the elements, unless the door is open. This is using firestick fireflex coax with the fire ring. This has the cable coming off at a right angle to the mounting stud and it naturally wants to feed through the hinge area and not hang down like Volhoo's picture.

I can take a pic if you like.
