Re: Wind/bug deflector

My bug deflector only protects the end of the hood, offroading it takes most of the abuse from branches rather than the hood.

Re: Wind/bug deflector

I have one, the toyota version. I got it to keep rocks from chipping the edge of my hood since driving to Tahoe a lot can take its toll on the paint. It works great for that. I also have a black diamond so I painted the deflector with matte black paint from the backside so you can hardly notice it now.

It doesn't reflect rocks from the windshield. Not sure how well it does for bugs, I put the deflector on right away when I got my FJ.

Re: Wind/bug deflector

Ya, they don't look as bad as I thought they would. Not sure if I'll bother if it doesn't do much for the bugs, & the lead edge of the hood is chipped up pretty good already. Thanks for the info....MAXXFJ

What brand of deflector is that? I like the lip on it.

Thanks,
AVS.

Re: Wind/bug deflector

What ever happened to the 3/8 inch thick, 3 to 4 inch high, clear plexy-glass vertical bug/rock deflectors of the 70's? I had one on my '79 Plymouth wagon when I lived down in south Florida. I used to see them all the time on the 18 wheelers on I-95.

They didn't flex at 70 MPH either!

That's about the only deflector that will keep the bugs off the windshield on this rig. I have the AVS version but it looks pretty though.
