Wind/bug deflector

Did anyone install a hood mounted wind/bug deflector on their FJ? I'm not a big fan of them, don't really like the way they look on any truck. Just woundering if it makes any difference in the amount of bugs & other crap that smacks the windshield? I'll bet I need to clean the windshield 4 or 5 times a day, lots of bugs, big ones too, sometimes sounds like a softball hitting the window. Sometimes it's kind of cool though, but hate cleaning it so often. Do they really make any difference??

Re: Wind/bug deflector

I agree with you, doesn't look good. Keeps bugs off the front of the hood, but not the windshield. IMO not worth it!

I don't think they look bad, especially if you black out the grill and bumper.

They had installed one on my FJ before I bought it, but I had them take it off. Ron

???? Definitely keeps rocks from chipping the leading edge of the hood. I believe that's the intended function.

Re: Wind/bug deflector

I have one and think it is more of a "hood protector" than a bug deflector. It did save me from body work from a golf ball strike (while driving on the freeway).

What brand of deflector is that? I like the lip on it.

Thanks,
