I'll have the Scorpion Rack prototype on my rig at Ouray. It IS a prototype and there will be a few changes before the final production prototype has been produced. I want it right.
Doc is correct in that my rack will allow you to mount literally anything and it connects to the vehicles OEM hard points with DOM steel tubing in the prototype and Stainless Steel DOM in the production models. If you include the 20 lbs power tank and stuff I have mounted on the rack now, there is about 200 lbs of gear attached to it and I could literally attach another 300 lbs without any problem at all. It's quite robust.
Doc's concept is designed around a dog/pet barrier and light cargo barrier. The Scorpion rack is designed as a CARGO LOAD BEARING rack. Two very different solutions. You can cinch strap hundreds of pounds of weight on top of what the rack itself supports in the back with the Scorpion rack.

Well, maybe no pictures tonight........the mounts on the prototype don't line up (not sure what happened there) and I am not completely satisfied with some of the features, mostly rearranging things a bit to improve function. I have a lot of dremelling to do tonight.
The rack will be mounted for Summit and for photos, this way you can get a better idea of what the final product will be like. Don't worry though, we won't make it until it is absolutely perfect!
Looking good. The question will be in my mind. How much will it rattle and some trim pieces in the rear would look nice. Can you take some more photos like the mounts and from the front? Alot of space is left up top. What about emergency egress? just suggestions ...
