Roof rack ladder

I know some here are running the Gobi ladder with their Gobi racks.
Has anyone used a ladder with the stock rack?

With my roof top tent on top, it is very hard to wash it, even when standing on a 4' ladder I use to wash my roof with.
I have to use a wash broom, and even with it, it is hard to get the whole top of the tent shell washed.

I figure with a rear ladder, I can get up higher and reach more with the wash broom.

I really dig this ladder the guy has on his Land Cruiser, but alas it is part of a custom bumper he had built.
He can even use the ladder for his tent instead of using the included Maggiolina ladder.

Re: Roof rack ladder

The Gobi Ladder was my second mod, it's been on for over 18 months without any problems. I'm looking for this pics now and will post them.

Re: Roof rack ladder

The Gboi is a very easy install.

These were the pics from my install and it will also hold the weight of an adult.

Re: Roof rack ladder

only draw back I see would be you would be unable to use rear window. Now how often do you use that window to start with?

Re: Roof rack ladder

Thanks for the pictures Terry.

Did you have to drill holes into the bottom of the door?
Kind of hard to tell from the picture, and how does it hook to the top?

I have opened my rear window perhaps once in the two plus years I have owned my rig, and I opened it out of sheer curiosity.

Re: Roof rack ladder

I'm 5'8" tall, which is "average," but I'm still to short to see or reach inside the rear window to get anything out of the cargo area that way. So, the rear window is pretty useless to me. The only reason I've ever opened it is to wipe the dust and dirt out of the channel behind it, which, I guess, will be difficult (if not impossible) to do w/the ladder installed. I was thinking of buying one of these ladders too, but, I really don't have all that much need to use a ladder to get to the roof rack either and this minor cleaning "problem" may sway me against it.
