I'm contemplating the BajaRack. Please gimme your pics & opinions.

:: Baja Rack ::

It appeals to my pocketbook. And, it's the understated simple style (and relatively low profile) that I happen to like for my FJ.

How do you like yours?? Pics??

Steve, Baja Rack for one is A #1 with the FJ Northeasters. Sergio and John really came through for us and it was the hottest item on our raffle stage. By the looks of it it was well constructed and easily installed. I say easily installed because the fellow that won it installed it on his rig(He didn't have a rack period) in the hotel parking lot so he could get home early the next morning with his truck full of friends. I would say you will not be disappointed and it's probably the best bang for your buck!

Re: I'm contemplating the BajaRack. Please gimme your pics & opinions.

I don't know which ones you have considered but i looked at the ARB and the bajarack for a while.
The bajarack weighs less, costs less, and is lower to the roof than the ARB. (i couldn't fit in my garage with the ARB).

The bajarack weighs about45 lbs and the ARB i think is close to 130 or something. I have heard from people that the ARB is like a tank and holds an incredible amount of weight. This is one of the few cases i think ARB over-built something by a long shot. The bajarack will hold i think close to 300lbs spread evenly? Which is plenty enough. I had 5-20L jerry cans strapped to it and did not see a bend in the rack at all. I am very happy with the customer service over at Bajarack. Sergio and Julian are great guys to deal with. I think i have some loaded down pictures from this past weekend i will see if i can find...

just grabbed a couple, not great pics but you can still see the rack. I had a lottttt of stuff up there. Gas/water cans, 3 wakeboards wakeboard bag, 3 tents, 2 sleeping pads, 3 sleeping bags, inflatable mattress, hi-lift jack, shovel (both came in handy that weekend getting an RV unstuck) case of waterbottles. Most of it was held down with just the supplied cargo net that comes with your bajarack (minus the jerry cans that were strapped down)

Re: I'm contemplating the BajaRack. Please gimme your pics & opinions.

Thanks LCSteve for the post. I too am considering the Baja Rack/ladder for a future install. I see by layonnn's pics the rack can carry a lot of gear, freeing up much needed space inside. "BUT" I am concerned about the overall height of the FJ as I would like it to fit in my garage. I plan on runnning an OME with 33's. I think that my garage height is seven feet? Will double check tomorrow and measure. Sorry to hijack your thread Steve.

Mahalo,

Mark

I am waiting to see what they come up with for Maggiolina roof top tent owners like me.
I hear one is in the works.

That's exactly what attracted me to the BajaRack.

And, thanks for the pics, layonnn. That's a sharp-looking unit.

I do like this rack... Any idea how it could be adapted to hold bikes? They don't yet make a bike mount.

Steve
I am awaiting my expedition style Baja rack from Sergio. It should be delivered by May 18th. I do know Baja was at the Overland Expo in Prescott AZ and they were a big hit. There is something to be said for the personality to go with the product. Their product looks good and is durable . I look forward to using mine with the Camping labs RTT.
A review will follow after install.
Thanks
Don

Re: I'm contemplating the BajaRack. Please gimme your pics & opinions.

Can anyone post some more pic's? I am looking at ARB and Baja. The only thing is I have not seen one on an FJ. I mean the feet and a profile shot of the vehicle. I like that it is lighter and most say no noticeable wind noise change over stock rack. I am concerned with the fit and finish. I found an ARB new full length mesh floor and fit kit for 857 out the door. So there is not enough difference in the price any more to sway me to Baja. Please post good pic's if you got them . Thanks
