hows about a switch replacement panel for the center console. Where you could use factory switches and add a couple of aftermarket switches to the panel? just a thought.

Not trying to step on any toes here, buy maybe if these guys don't make a switch panel check out 12voltguy.com. They can make you ANYTHING you want.

I ordered a whole new spare console today for measurements for the M6. We will take a close look at the possiblities of building a complete console...but I would imagine that it will be very cost prohibitive due to the complexities of the design

Doc
Consider me a beta tester for the complete revision of the center console...who would be willing to help offset prototyping costs...

That is a great offer. I will bring it up with the engineer when we measure for the FJ M6 Straddle.

I would guess that by the time we make it the way it should have been made...IE Locking storage, extended rear compartment, real padded arm rest with matching fabric and some sort of keyless entry. It will cost slight less than the cost of reforming healthcare.

I will keep you posted.

Doc, If you do a full replacement console, make a center flip up section that can act as storage and as real arm rests...the FJ arm rests are dinky.

RadRod57 replaced his 8 switch panel with an aluminum one that fits 10 in the same space. He also added 3 in the section that normally holds the AUx in and CigLighter, but I am sure the way he designed it could leave that section as is. I saw it last may, the panel looks sweet.

Re: New! MPAC Straddle Prototype

Using the MOLLE bags would work great, for those of us who would want a screw/bolt on option, it appears you would have to remove the entire panel to replace one bolt. Openable/foldable sides would alleviate complete removal, of course this would add vibrations. Just a thought.

Thanks for the great option and products for our FJ community.

Re: New! MPAC Straddle Prototype

For those of us that will be bolting this item on, I am working on a system where the recieving nut will be retained on the plastic wall of the center console. This will require the console to be taken apart once for mounting of the hardware. After the initial installation the straddle will be able to be removed by simply unscrewing four external bolts.

Ease of removal is pretty important to us concerning this project...mostly because after working with the Straddle and the prospective bags, I feel that the best way to switch out bags will be to quickly remove the straddle.

That said, I still feel that the only people that will want to bolt the straddle on will be those who will be tugging at it (IE legal CCW carriers).

I should have some pictures in the next week.

Re: New! MPAC Straddle Prototype

Oh yeah! We pick up the M6 center console parts today so we can get to work on that model as well. That prototype should not take too long to produce.
