Re: New! MPAC Straddle Prototype

Doc,

I see listed on you site a Ipouch. But I can't find the size.

Will it hold a digital camera? I have a Digital Elph, one of the pocked size camera from Canon. We seem to loose the camera every time we get in the FJ. It gets tossed in one of the cup holders and them falls on the floor.

Some type of slip in holder for a cell phone would be nice too. I don't use the phone while I'm driving, but I like to keep it handy. And since there are so many holes in the rack maybe I could neatly route the charging cable out of the way.

Currently I'm using this for my cell phone.

It works fine to hold the phone, but the charging cable keeps falling out.. Also it is clipped on to the vent, so you can't adjust the vent up and down.

And for your next project, my wife would like a system that mounts on the dash in front of the passenger and provides a big storage bag for her phone, camera, GPS, and personal stuff, etc; Basically a dash Mounted Removable FJ Purse (she took my Trail teams bag during the summit). It should also be a flip down table, with a mount for a Netbook (small laptop) with space for a mouse. When it is folded up it should have an "OH Crap" handle on it, because the two in the FJ are not enough (She also wants one in the center of the FJ on the roof). And it would be great if it had a flexible Map Light, Power outlets both 12v and 120v and small fridge to keep drinks and snacks. I think that is about everything that she told me she needed as we spend 3 days in the FJ during the Summit.

On a more serious note, the Tail Teams bag we got at the summit fit really well on the floor just in front of the passengers seat. Tee was able to keep all of her stuff handy and said that it never got in her way under her knees. We only had a problem with it sliding around on the floor on the rough roads. I just wonder if that could be another mounting place for a MPAC solution. Maybe a custom bracket that uses the seat bolts and then a "Hidden Compartment Bag" mounted to it? I'm sure it would be in the way for vertically challenged passengers, so it would not be for everyone. It's just and idea, but if you build one, put me on the list for the prototype.

Thanks,
Chuck

Microphone button holders would also be nice for HAM/CB, etc.

Looks good!

Looking at the side and then the top-down pics, only thing I can think of as an improvement might be a) a nylon flap to fold over when leaving it locked in the truck, and b) a sepaation betweek the MPAC itself and the holster to ease quick and "index finger forward" removal from the holster.

But lookin' good!
