Looks good!

Looking at the side and then the top-down pics, only thing I can think of as an improvement might be a) a nylon flap to fold over when leaving it locked in the truck, and b) a sepaation betweek the MPAC itself and the holster to ease quick and "index finger forward" removal from the holster.

But lookin' good!
Initially I was all for the left sided holster on the drivers side of the Straddle, but I think that putting a right sided on the passenger side would alleviate all the above concerns

Re: New! MPAC Straddle Prototype

Or what about a right handed holster mounted "backwards" (heel of guy towards front of FJ) on the drivers side? It might take a little getting used to turning your hand around but might be easier than drawing from a left handed holster or reaching across the console to the passenger side of it. Just a thought.

I'm sorry to ask dumb questions, but I'm good at it.

Why do you need to have a gun mounted to your console? And why do so many FJ's carry their guns around in their FJs?

I don't own a gun, so I'm sure this is why I don't understand. I don't have a problem with guns, and I'd like to own one myself. I just can't see the reasons that you would want to carry it around with you, especially somewhere visable. Unless everyone is in some type of law enforcement and needs to keep them handy.

I think I would be more stressed having a gun in the car. Don't you have to tell the officer that you have a firearm in the car if you get stopped for any reason? I know where I use to work, you were not permitted to bring them in to the parking lot. I also think you would freak out a passenger that didn't know you carried a gun and jumped in your FJ and saw it mounted on the console.

So I can see many reason to not have a gun in the car, but only a few times that I would like to have a gun. So please enlighten me why everyone like to carry their guns around.

I think that is a fair and legitimate question...I will answer the question from a standpoint of our business and a personal standpoint but would prefer to keep the thread about the product and not another out of control gun discussion.

From a personal standpoint...I have a background that at times requires me to carry a handgun. When I do, I have found that the handgun is uncomfortable and hard to access while seated in the automobile. This is a problem shared by other people that are legally capable of carrying a handgun. Amongst the many uses that the Straddle is capable of....one is the capacity to hold my handgun in a secure place (and comfortable) while I drive. It is not meant to leave in the car or to act as a method of intimidation for anyone. The gun simply returns to the holser when I leave the seated position.

From a business standpoint...Our company is approached often by "security" agencies that request better access for their tools of the trade while in the vehicle. So that is an issue that we aim to improve, since there are a fair number of permit carrying persons on this board...we like to share.

Police are not a particular issue as I know every law enforcement officer in the county and they know me.

As far as someone freaking out in my FJ...It would probably would be because of the Barrett .50 in the back

Re: New! MPAC Straddle Prototype

Just ordered mine. Hope to get it soon. And if you mount your pistol on the left just be careful when pulling your e-brake(if you use it).
