Maggiolina roof top tent, roof rack, lights question..

So I am thinking about a roof top tent. I really like the Maggiolina airland tent for two that you just crank open and closed...

AutoHome Maggiolina—the World's most refined vehicle roof top tents

What I want to know is, what is a good roof rack that can hold this tent and will I still have room from lights on the front of my rack or will this thing leave absolutely no room at all?

Re: Maggiolina roof top tent, roof rack, lights question..

I had the Maggiolina Grand Tour mounted on my stock roof rack.

Due to the length of the tent, you do not have room to mount anything in the way of front lights with the stock roof rack.

I can't speak about other roof racks.

Re: Maggiolina roof top tent, roof rack, lights question..

Baja Rack and Slee Off Road both offer a flat platform to mount the tent to - and you could probably fab some light brackets just ahead of the tent. Should not be hard to do. Seems Baja Rack also has a light box as an accessory - this might work for you as well, with some custom work. The Maggiolina is long, but not so long that it takes up all your rooftop space - there is room for lights in front and adding an extension or light bar to either rack mentioned above should be possible.

I have the ARB Fit Kit under my Maggiolina and it would not be hard to have someone weld on a light bar just in front of the tent.

Do you have any pics of this tent on your FJ that you can post? That's a big tent.

What width (small, medium, large) is your tent?

Thanks,

Mike
