Best lights for a roof rack?

I am awaiting delivery of my new ARB roof rack and was wondering which lights I would best off with.

Are spot or flood beams preferable on the roof? Does one create more glare than the other? Seems that with the extra height, the spot beams may be better...

In a perfect world, I'd like to install a 42" vision x light bar but I can't spend that type of cash this time around. Your opinions are appreciated.

By the way, I'm currently running the lightforce 170s with combo filters on my bumper.

Re: Best lights for a roof rack?

I run the IPF's and they were really easy to install. It took about 2 minutes to bolt all 4 front lights on.

Floods on the outside of the rack, and two spots on the inside. This way you get lighting spread out the front/side of the rig, and also light far down the trail. BUt it also depends on what kind of wheeling you do. If you do alot of high speed runs than 4 spots might work better.

X2. Ideally with separate switches (and relays) for each pair.

What kind of front bumper are you running? Would you consider bumper mounted/bull bar mounted lighting? I ask because I was going to do a bunch of lighting, but the Xmitter bar (just the 22") is more than enough lighting and has allowed the roof lights to go to the back burner.
