Gulf States & MENA Check-In

"Last week Toyota of Saudi Arabia & Kuwait have introduced the new 2008 FJC to the local market FjCruiserarabia, as well as all other Gulf States! Therefore, the Gulf States are the third countries after the US & Canada to officially sell the FJC."

Hello everyone I’m starting this new thread for all current and new FJC owners from or living in the Gulf States (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Oman) and the MENA region.

Let us share our experience, knowledge, photos, videos, and update each other on current events.

So please check-In

Best Regards,

Re: Gulf States & MENA Check-In

OK.. I'll Start

#1 Nylon

I'm the proud owner of a 2007 FJ Cruiser TRD Special Edition. I bought my FJ in December 2006 from Toyota of Vermont-USA and I shipped it right away to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. And as of today I have 5000 Miles (8000 Km) on the ODO.
I believe my FJ is the first and only TRD SE in Saudi Arabia?? So please let me know if you or anyone else you know owns a TRD SE in Saudi or the MENA area.

In regards of upgrades, I did install the TDR CAI (cold air intake) what a change in sound and acceleration.. I'll post some pictures later on.

Later,

Nylon

Re: Gulf States & MENA Check-In

Hi Guys,
I'm Joe, living in Dubai. Just got my FJC08 black a week ago and already did my 1st K . I've installed Toyota's Skid plate and tow hitch. I would love to do some lift and I've been reading about the Traxxx 3" Front, 1.25" Rear, yet I have a couple of queries maybe you can help with :
- Where to buy ?? or you recommend something better.
- Will the warranty get void ?
- Will the tires rub on the toyota's skid plate if you do the front lift ?

Any info from all is greatly appreciated.
Peace

Hello Joe,

Congratulations on your new FJ and welcome to the forum & the "Gulf States & MENA" thread. you are our first UAE member and I shall call you # 4 =)

Unfortunately I cannot answer most of your questions???

- I do not know who’s in Dubai that does lifts and sells its parts.

- In regards of losing the warranty, I really do not know, check with your local dealer. I believe if the modification has been done out of Toyota official dealer you will lose the warranty. Like any other warranty agreement in the States or Europe.

- Regarding your tiers rubbing on the skid plate after the lift, I do not think so. However, you may search in the forum and you will find a professional answer from an expert.

Please state in your next post that you are # 4. I’m trying to keep a count of all members in the early stage of this thread before it mushrooms and gets out of hand. =)

Welcome again to the forum and please make use of it... You will find information about anything and everything you might think of about your FJ and other.

Cheers,

Faisal

Re: Gulf States & MENA Check-In

Alan,
You should have had it done at the Al Futtaim V-Kool installer-half the price!

I'm waiting on a set of Dobinsons to lift and stiffen it. The bits are on a boat somewhere between here and Australia.

Icon Cars are due to bring in a whole bunch of stuff for the FJ soon, and are pretty good at fitting it all.

Al Futtaim will not be bringing in TRD bits because of warranty considerations. Shame-I was looking at CAI, exhaust and supercharger.

I'm off to Liwa this weekend, after already doing the Wahiba and Wadi Bani Auf in Oman a few weeks ago. Have to say that without the lift, my old 3.4 supercharged, lifted, stiffened Prado was better in the sand. Maybe the 275 70R16 tyres helped as well.

You'll need the skid plate (but Icon can make you a cheaper one than the Toyota version). Without it, you will do damage!

PM me if you have any other FJ questions.

Re: Gulf States & MENA Check-In

Sandstorm FJ from Dubai. Does someone know the accessories price level in Oman. As you UAE guys know, the futtaim prices are at least three times the prices in u.s.
I asked them why the prices are so much higher and you don't even want to know the answer..
