I was going to wait until 2008, but I got eager. I also wanted Black Cherry. While I know it is the least favorite color of the forum, I happen to like it the most. Once I saw that it was going to be discontinued, I looked around for it. None in the Portland area with the options I wanted (well actually, the options I didn't want). However, by following some of the tips in the buying section, I did some shopping around via the phone I learned that the exact car I wanted was to be delivered in Boise next week. I learned this because the sales dude I was talking to was trying to tell me how hard to find these would be and that "the nearest dealer is 300 miles away."
What he didn't realize is that that equates to a $69 flight and a beautiful drive home. Will make the trek on the third and can't wait.
BTW, thanks to the tips on the buyer's part of the forum I got the dealership to knock $1,500 off MSRP (I still had to pay $199 in fees, but that doesn't seem bad). Also got the mats at dealer cost.
I guess the Toyota dealer in Boise is selling at MSRP most of the time, but, since this was a quick/easy sale from out of state and the timing was good they went for it. Will post more details in the proper section, where I can thank the appropriate authors of the most helpful threads.
Thanks also to the research done on this forum, I have a pretty good idea of what mods I will have done the moment I arrive in town.
I've said it before, but this is one of the best forums I've ever been on. Just good info without a lot of nonsense. Congrats to the moderators.
I have a black diamond, but saw the black cherry when I went to pick her up (they were swappin the chrome chrome bling bling for my black steel rims), and I like the color, actually better than yellow, tit grey or blue, but I'm stickin with my bd because I likes it the best.
Have a good trip home, remember to smile all the way, and read the thread on how to break it in (vary your speed first 500 mi, first oil change at 2500k etc.)
alot of useful info out there (more than I contribute, I must say...)
A cross between quasimoto and the elephant man..... But only the good parts!!!!!
Hello chewey46 it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?
Congrats on the new ride! Black cherry was actually my first color choice and I have received nothing but compliments on it from people that have seen it in person. I actually liked the color on the Scion Tc and hoped that they would do the FJ in BC. It is polarizing though....you either love it or hate it.
If we were all the same, the world would be a boring place.
