Proud New FJ Owner!

Hello:

I just traded in my 99 Durango on a "used" 2007 Silver FJ today!

I was interested in buying one when the FJ first came out last year, but, since it was a new model, I thought it would be better to wait awhile until all (or most) of the bugs got worked out. Looks like there are still a few bugs (like windshield breakage and simultaneous ATRAC/diff lock operation), but I decided now was the time to trade in my old Durango and buy an FJ.

As luck would have it, I found a "loaded" 2007 FJ (purchased new in 9/06 with 9k miles on it) just a few miles from my house. This auto 4x4 rig had EVERYTHING on it -- the convenience package (CQ), curtain shield airbags w/ front seat side bolster airbags (GY), upgrade package #2 (UR), rock rails (5L), TRD performance exhaust (#7), roof rack (3T), security RS3200 w/proximity sensor (V5), skid plate (S0), towing hitch & harness (DH) and a full set of 16" TRD alloy wheels w/BFG All-Terrain T/A KO tires and wheel locks. I got this all for $29.9k, which, as near as I can figure, is only about $1k over new dealer invoice pricing.

Granted it's 7 months old and has 9k miles on it, but the car really is almost perfect -- no door dings, nothing wrong w/it, except a tiny nick on the back door. Went to my local dealer to buy some touch up for the nick and the parts guy gave me a tube FREE!

On top of that, with the 16" TRD wheels, the FJ is 1 inch lower than stock and fits easily into my garage. After reading about the height issues here, I measured my garage door opening and it was only 78" before I adjusted the opener to widen it to 79 1/2. Even then, I was worried that the FJ might not fit because I read that the FJ was 78-79" high with the rack on. So, imagine my delight when I saw the ad in AutoTrader for an FJ w/16" TRD wheels on it and after I measured it and found that it was "only" 77" high and fit into my garage w/o any difficulty whatsoever!

Looks like this FJ and I were just meant to be hooked up together and I'm looking forward to having fun driving it in some dirt and snow!!!

Welcome onboard. New or used it's still a lot of fun to drive. Be sure to download the FJ manuals provided by a generous member at

Re: Proud New FJ Owner!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and thanks LMGC for the docs link. It's very useful. I'm priniting out the Product Reference Guide now.

As for pics, do you guys really want pics of a STOCK titanium FJ? Or is it the wheels that make it different? If you really want them, I'll try to take a couple and post them in a day or two.
