I suffered the same disappointment when I went down to the dealership and they offered me $5,000 for my 2001 Civic with 51,000 miles. I said "kiss my ass" and put an ad in the paper to sell my Civic. Sold it the next day for $7,800! Sell it yourself, get the dough and pay a visit back to the dealer. You will have more power in dealing with "cash in hand"! Good luck - keep us updated.
