I got lucky in my divorce . . . . she got the house, and got my FJ-40's.
Ouch!
Or did you mean she got the house and YOU got the FJ-40's???

The divorce stuff seems like a long time ago for me, fully recovered, happily remarried and my wife is considering an FJ for her too. (2wd?, auto for sure)
Some dealer is going to do very well with us! Probably will have to take a trip to Denver or Salt Lake though...I have never had much luck with our local Toyota dealership.

Re: New guy checking in.

I'd go with the 07 model. Hold out for a good deal. The 08's don't have enough changes. As far as the Auto/Manual, I to drove manual for many decades and now I drive the auto FJ. Just got tired of shifting gears that all.

Re: New guy checking in.

Welcome to the forum, and good luck with the upcoming purchase. I'm planning to go with an 08' AT but that's just me.

Or should I say new "old" guy checking in. (long time lurker)
For several years I had a FJ40 and had to give it up in an "end of marriage redistribution of wealth ceremony".
I have been checking out the FJ Cruiser since the first prototype pics came out and I am now trying to figure out if I should go for a the new 08 or try to get a closeout deal on a new 07. Also struggling with the auto vs manual thing.
I will try not to drive you nuts!

Re: New guy checking in.

My .02 If you plan on crawlin or doing some major trail riding you will like the Auto. However a manual with a throttle lever on the shifter would work out nicely. I have driven both on trail. And I personally prefer Auto. I had fun in both but at the end of the day in the auto I wasn't as tired or wore out from the constant shifting.

As far as daily driving that is your choice what you prefer. I prefer a manual for daily driving. But that is why I have a sportier car for that.

Buy an 07 save yourself some money. From the options I have seen in the 08 there is no reason to pay more. Not enough benifit for me to have waited for the 08. Now if there was power seats and sunroof options. I would have waited. As far as different shocks and stuff. I will be putting different shocks anyway. So why pay for upgraded shocks from the factory when they wont stay? The new colors are boring. However I would like to see the Iceberg color.

Besides you will get a lot better deal on the 07 We just got ours last night and we paid 500 under invoice for it. I got them to give up the hold back on the vehicle. If you are a good salesperson yourself you can do the same.
