New guy checking in.

Or should I say new "old" guy checking in. (long time lurker)
For several years I had a FJ40 and had to give it up in an "end of marriage redistribution of wealth ceremony".
I have been checking out the FJ Cruiser since the first prototype pics came out and I am now trying to figure out if I should go for a the new 08 or try to get a closeout deal on a new 07. Also struggling with the auto vs manual thing.
I will try not to drive you nuts!

'08 get's a few different paint colors and some shock options.....buy an '07,paint it any color you want, get what ever shocks you want, and and leave the '08 for someone else....my $.02
The auto or manual talk could go on forever...so I'll give $.01 only....I've seen the manuals stall in very bad situations...I have the auto as do some other guys I run with and have never been limited by it...plus I'm old and tired of shifting...Kurt

Re: New guy checking in.

Well welcome Rat. I myself would go for a deal on an 07 if you can get a great deal buy it. The changes on the 08 models are no big deal so if you get the deal you want I would pull the trigger on the 07. Either way you will love the FJ.

I got lucky in my divorce . . . . she got the house, and got my FJ-40's.

Welcome, Rat!!

I agree with the others on grabbing yourself an '07. Since you're a former FJ-40 jockey, you'll want a Sun Fusion FJ anyway. So why wait for one of the new boring colors at a higher price?

Re: New guy checking in.

Welcome aboard! You would probably get a better deal on 07 than you would on an 08. As for the drivetrain, I like the MT over the AT. I suggest you test drive a AT and a MT and go with your gut instinct. Enjoy the forum.

SAID X2 But if you are worried about the stall thing i have HILL ASSIST.
Overrides clutch and makes it act like an automatic. Im not sure how to get it in a package. I ordered a TRD Loaded.
