Hey everyone, I picked up a Silver FJ 4x4 last night. She is automatic and has a few convenience packages (tow hitch, sliders, etc). I don't like the blind spot visibility and already almost took someone in a Mini Cooper out. I think I'll be buying some little round mirrors to stick on later today. Otherwise I have no complaints. I bought it on a whim over the H3 and I'm not sorry. I got her for invoice which seemed to be a pretty good deal. Anyway, looking forward to checking these forums out. My first search will be: "locking gas cap"
Congrats Kamel, enjoy your FJ...I would recomend the small wide rectangle fish eyes that angle towards the outside and place them on the top inside corner, this way you'll cover your blind spots both left and right and when you go off road'n you can still use the lower half to tilt down to see your lower sides.
Make sure you get the right fitting cap or else you'll get the CHECK ENG light issue...good luck and welcome!
Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm actually planning to leave this one stock (I hope, I am weak, lol) It is also my daily driver and I have a 25 mile commute one-way, so I need all the MPG I can get.
To answer the Kamel Toe question.... Kamel comes from the name I usually use for online gaming. It started out as "FlyingCamel" (check the urban dictionary for that one), then was shortened to Camel since everyone would call me that anyway... then eventually to Kamel when I started playing RPG games to give it a slightly more legit sound.
Hope you are enjoying it. Just remember to use your turn signal so people can get out of your way.
I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I didn't use a turn signal. The Mini creeped over from the left HOV lane as I was moving into the far left non-HOV lane. Needless to say, I'd have won that battle. We weren't terribly close, but it still bothered me that even after doing an over-the-shoulder check that I didn't see him wander over. I'll get that taken care of this evening...
(Lots of mods for non offroaders are avail) I would start off with cold air intake
might be able to squeeze more mpgs out of her
have fun

Oh, she'll be off-road. :P I've got the sliders and the rear diff lock, so I would assume the major shortcoming in stock form would be the tires...? Even so, I'd imagine it's still quite capable. I used to have a stock '98 Pathfinder years ago that pulled a few Jeeps out of bad spots in its time, and I'm guessing this FJ must be quite a bit better than that thing was just from the looks of her. I won't be doing any crazy rock crawling, but I'll be sure to get it dirty (and probably scare myself in the process).
