Hello from Houston...

Hi, lurker here, but I am interested in getting an FJ, probably an 08. I guess I'll have to order one to my specs as Gulf States Toyota really loads up in stock FJ's with total rip off packages. I really hate the way Gulf States does business, I'd have probably bought more Toyotas if it weren't for their shady practices. Anyway I've always loved the way the FJ's have looked and wanted to get one earlier, but you know, stupid dealers. Now it seems like every dealer in Houston has tons of them. I'm waiting to see the new colors in person if not I'll just order the titanium. Thanks for listening.

Re: Hello for Houston...

Most of us in Tejas suffer from Gulf Sates Toyota; unfortunately they are one of the oldest and largest Toyota importers from way back when, so they have a lot of clout with corporate in Japan and can do pretty much what they want. The 800-lb gorilla of car dealers.

Good luck getting what you want. If you're patient enough, maybe you could order what you really want.

Re: Hello for Houston...

You can get the FJ you want, but you have to be very careful what you ask them to do. I learned this the hard way. Be VERY specific about what you want. Include part numbers if possible and double check all paperwork. Also, it may help to make a complete list before you walk in and tell them that is what you want, no substitutions or additions.

You can beat them.

Oh, and welcome!!

Re: Hello for Houston...

Good luck with the order. I've had good luck in the past doing this for other vehicles.

Re: Hello for Houston...

Well went to Sterling McCall on 59 and put my order in. I saw the Brick and it was too dark, I saw the Sandstorm and it was too light. So I ordered the Titanium Silver. I got $1000 above their fake invoice but its still $2000 off the sticker. So I didn't fight them for the last few dollars. I got the convenience package, upgrade 2, roof rack, predator steps. They said it should be here in a couple of weeks. Now the waiting begins. I'm pretty excited.

Although I thought the Sandstorm was too light, it came a close second to Titanium and still might switch colors.

Oh and I saw the offroad package, it looked pretty cool, noticeably taller than the regular FJ's.

Re: Hello for Houston...

Welcome, there seems to be quite a few of us from Houston on here. Maybe we should have a little "get to know you" beer at a tavern some time.

Just a thought...........
