Re: Question, New 2008 FJ or 2007 FJ with money left over to blow on mods?

I bought an '07 because the dealer wanted to move it and he threw in the trd exhaust. I personally don't care that my car says '07 or '08 on it and would take the exhaust over the minor new model year upgrades. I'm with FJ Camel in that I don't plan to ever sell mine. The '07's come with bragging rights too (first year).

If you are comfortable with used, assuming you are getting a decent deal, then go with the 07. If the used 07 is over-priced like most used FJs I've seen, then go with a new "left-over" 07 or a new 08.

07!!! thats what i ended up doing! i was in the same boat. Didnt get my first choice color but i think i am happier anyway! it comes with a 7year/100000 mile warrenty instead of the 5/60000 one that comes on new ones. crazy

Re: Question, New 2008 FJ or 2007 FJ with money left over to blow on mods?

I faced the very same dilemna, except mine was between used '07 or new '08 (I was not considering a new '07 because I wanted the Sandstorm if I was going new car).

After shopping extensively, I found out that the price difference between a new '08 and an already modded 07 was not worth it at all; I think if you look around you'll find this to be true. If on the other hand you're considering a used 07, consider that I paid $43 over invoice for a 2008 Sandstorm (i.e. paid $26,666) w/ Convenience package and Upgrade Package 2, +running boards and all weather mats. If the color you want is an '07, and you can beat this price by any amount, then go new '07 an spend the money on mods.

I hope this is not confusing.

I actually got my 07 used from a dealer- certified. it was a return on a lease and was sitting on the lot. dealer was anxious to get rid of it and threw in a factory roofrack including instalation. it had a few extra miles on it more than i preferred and wasn't my first color choice, but i got it way below blue book and am loving it. check the blue book value first so that yo can jam them down further if you used.
