Well its taken a couple of months but I got the green light to lift the FJ from the wife! I have not installed my front and rear bumpers nor the sliders as it would just not look right without a lift and tires.
Wife has "come around"! :wink:rocker:
I put the breaks on going with the 270 75 17's after installing one of the sliders. I took it right back off as the truck would look absolutely stupid with the sliders and the bumpers and winch I bought without the lift and nice size tires.
Im looking into what it would take in lift height to go with some 305's. Might as well do it right.
Anyone have any suggestions on height and which lift?
You may want to read some of the "before you mod" articles! Its amazing what the FJ's can do nearly stock. I've been more than happy with how it does off road with a simple tire upgrade and extra skids. Great articulation, loads of traction, good clearance. I don't seek out off roading - I just end up needing to use 4x4 frequently to get to hiking, camping, fly fishing, and hunting spots.
That being said, a lot of guys do the Bilstein 5100's for a little extra clearance and love it.
My last comment is that the rear springs on the FJ are LIGHT. I trailer occasionally, and my 2000 lbs trailer has a tongue weight of about 150lbs. I also load up my cargo area with about 150-200 lbs of stuff pretty regularly, so this is a good thing to know if that sounds like you.
If you level out the front and then load up with gear or a trailer, you'll get hi-beamed constantly driving around by people who think your hi-beams are on. Having the forward cant is a nice part of the design for those of us who carry any real weight around.
