Great forum. I just bought my FJ last Sunday (8 days ago). I wasn't even planning on it. I knew they were cool but didn't think it would happen. I was at Toyota with my dad and wife because my dad was buying a Tundra. While we were there my dad and wife fell in love with the FJ, so we ended up buying it on the spot. I think i got a good deal because we bought two cars at once (the Tundra and FJ).
I got a 2008, 4WD, Automatic, Black FJ with the package that has the guages, subwoofer, 17" wheels (alloy etc). I think thats upgrade package 2 and the convenience package. As we speak my dad took my FJ back to get rock sliders, the brish guard, auxiliary lights and all weather mats with a trunk mat (i know its kind of pointless since the whole car is rubber, but I thought it would be easier to just shake the mats off.
I love the car to death, only thing is that damn blind spot. I was thinking of putting some sticky convex mirrors, has anyone done this or have a better idea?
Quick question, has anyone installed GPS in their FJ? Do you just put a portable in the compartment above the steering wheel or did you swap out the factory 6 disc or is there a better place to put it. Also, since my wife will be driving it around town quite a bit, has anyone thought of a back up camera?
Thanks and can't wait to be a part of the group. I'll try to post some pictures soon.
Set aside a couple of hours and sift through the website. There are hordes of answers to your inquiries.. Would take anyone a good while to even start addressing your questions. Use the search button and vary your search words. You have a Lot of reading to do.

Jim,
Welcome!! As they say enjoy your FJ it is a hoot!!
I put the rectangular small convex mirrors on both side mirrors. No more blind spots. .99 at WalMart.

My wife has a Garmin Nuvi seris GPS. She used the included suction cup window mount and attached it to the smooth area just below the driver side dash vent. The GPS is between the door and the turn signal lever. It's really a nice fit.
Welcome. I wouldn't be without the little convex mirrors. I've put them on every vehicle I ever owned. Do you have the warning beeper that goes off if you get to close to anything while backing up. I guess it's an option but it really works good.

Hey there and WELCOME!! I have the Garmin Nuvi as well and I got the little sandbag stand that Best Buy sells. Works great!!! and I can take it down if I want to without the suction cup issue. I put a picture of my husband and I after we landed two HUGE amberjacks in an Offshore fishing rodeo in the little void between the steering column and the door. Silly, I know, but I like having him in there too. Sure gets some cool comments from the dealership when I go in........
