After 25 years with only one wife, one career and one truck, I finally got a new one. A truck that is. I'll never give up the wife, but will leave the Army in the next couple of years.
I bought a black 1982 Ford F100 new the day I graduated High School and have driven it ever since. That was until two weeks ago. My "new" 2007 FJ showed up on the local Ford/Lincoln dealer's used car lot and caught my eye. There wasn't a thing wrong with the Ford and I took a test drive in the FJ just for fun. Well like many others on this sight I was immediately hooked. Like my first Harley ride and first tattoo, somethings just feel right. Well I managed to walk away, and in fact made it a whole two days after the test drive before I finally decided I could let the old Ford go. The dealer played more than fair, owing to their dislike for "them foreign jobs" and so now the FJ is mine.
I got it for a steal, just as it sits today. The previous owner, another soldier, did a great job of setting it up and I am sure he was sick to let it go. I can only take credit for detailing it out, blacking out the front TOYOTA, debadging the tail, relocating the backup camera and sticking on a few decals. It came on the big rubber and teflon wheels, sitting on a 3" TOYOTECH lift and front leveler kit. Its a 2007 black diamond, 4X4, AT with every factory/dealer option as well as dealer installed limo tint, door window wind guards and a wireless back up camera. I have to thank the community forum for the debadging tips which really cleaned up the rear. Planned Winter mods include a GPS install as well as a ceiling mounted electronic locking rifle rack and fiberglass noise suppression aft. Not much else planned until spring when the exterior silver will all disappear. The FJ has proven to be so much fun that I have neglected my other toys.

Seems I have a lot to learn as the pics wound up in my photo gallery and I can't figure out how to get them into the post and add an avatar image. Any and all advice appreciated and I'll keep trying in the meantime.
Even after 25 years and 16 permanent duty station changes the old Ford only had 86K miles and still looked great. The low mileage was courtesy of a lot of deployments away from home and the great looks were owed to a 2003 on-frame restoration funded by a couple of tours in Afghanistan.
Thanks for helping with the post. I'll keep playing with it and get it figured out. The motorcycle shown with the Ford in the Photo Gallery is a 1999 Harley-Davidson MT-500, pre-production (#00015) military model. The MT-500s were made for only two years and then discontinued. Its a fun toy and a hit in the Veterans' Day Parade, but when HD shut down the line they stopped all parts runs as well. Its a labor of love to keep it in the game.
Congrats and welcome aboard! Nice truck you had but the FJ will surely earn its place! Congrats again and thanks for your service!

When in doubt, run it over. Back up, then run it over again.
