Finally took the plunge

My handle's Logansky, and I'm a young 60. I live in the mountains right in Michaux State Forest, Adams County Pennsylvania. Lots of State Forest roads I travel which will be the extent of my four wheeling. My driveway is a half mile long gravel road which isn't on the State of Pa.'s maintenance program so owning a 4X4 is a necessity.
I had been a lurker on this forum for quite sometime while I researched what kind of vehicle to buy that was within my price range, finally settleing on the FJ. My current vehicle was on the way out and I just replaced it this weekend with a leftover 07 in Sun Fusion, which better suits my Golden Retrevier so my wife says. Perhaps I should have opted for a tamer Titanium, but I told my wife if I had I'd probably always think "I should have bought a Sun Fusion". The vehicle came with all the good stuff, even some stuff I won't need like rock rails, but you never know.
Purchasing and delivery was rather painless from Fitzgerald Auto Malls | All vehicles have discounted, full delivered, no haggle prices! which also had the best price anywhere.
A couple of things irk me that I've discovered in the two days that I've owned the FJ. One was a small dent in the white portion of the roof, noticeable only at the correct viewing angle, the other were some deep scrapes in the plastic left side of the cargo area. Not really to much to nit pick about, but on a vehicle with 3 miles on the odo it sort of ticked me off.
All the posts about the anemic interior lighting are correct, and I worry about door dents since body side molding is non existant. I'll probably add something there come Spring when the weathers fit for the 3M adhesive to do its thing. The windshield thing is a concern also since the wonderful state of Pa will soon be antiskidding every road in sight followed by the spring tar and chip nightmare of road maintenance. Thank heavens for $50 deductable.
Perhaps I'll be one of the lucky ones, time will tell.
Enough of my ramblings, I would like to say in closing that this forum has been an emense help in my pre- purchase research and I'm sure will be a wonderful asset in my post- purchase life with my new FJ.

Congrats, and welcome! Nice to have another Central PA FJ around. You've got some nice trails out your way in Caldonia.

Re: Finally took the plunge

Logansky, welcome aboard!! We bought your sister vehicle (07 Sun Fusion option 2) last Friday and did some quick lighting mods via Home Depot. In their light bulb department they sell 2 inch Sylvania led discs which stick anywhere. I placed 2 in each footwell giving me floor lighting inboard and door compartment lighting outboard. We too are young 60 with 4 Grandkids and a Staffordshire Bull Terrierto abuse the interior of the FJ; the kids love the color. Had our first snow in Minnesota yesterday and the FJ is un-stopable.

Re: Finally took the plunge

You have chosen the correct vehicle: functional, affordable, down-to-earth, and a heck of a lot of fun.

Welcome
