welcome to the forum, I always keep a sharp knife in hands reach just in case of this. or never know what you might need to cut!!
Good idea. is it ILLEGAL to keep a hunting knife or something similar in the little box in top of the dash? I can't think of many other things that would fit in there. Of course, you can't keep loaded firearm in your car (in cali, atleast).

Jim

EDIT: Never mind. I think I'll put one of those "First Response Emergency Tool - The Safety Tool Designed For Professionals"
that FJ Marine was talking about in there.

P.S. Welcome to the Forum. I'm a newbie and still learning from this great group.

Re: Just picked up my FJ and unexpected problem

No seatbelt problems here, but I keep one of those little emergency cutter/glassbreakers zip-tied to the top inside of the A-piller handle just in case.

My antenna did fall off though while driving. It was broken inside the base. The dealer grabbed a replacement from a Tacoma and screwed it in. Odd little things happen.

Re: Just picked up my FJ and unexpected problem

Sorry about all that. Mine came with a full tank too. I would definitely be complaining about a seatbelt problem like that. I think someone started a thread about good FJ Christmas presents. One that caught my eye was a very inexpensive glass hammer that had a seatbelt saw/knife on it. Hmmmm.... I think I might have to put that on my Santa list for me from my hubby (Santa!!)

my husband wanted to store the belt cutter in that same compartment, too. (i'm SURE he got the idea here. that's because it's a conspiracy! this forum is all about conspiracy! )

i can't actually reach into that compartment unless i lean forward. that means for me it didn't work as a suitable place to store an emergency seatbelt cutter (duh). my husband mounted ours with velcro tabs near the handle on the door.

hey, maybe i better make *sure* he actually installed the other one on the passenger side....

That's what the service writer said when I brought it back. They told me when I pick it up on Tuesday they were giving me a voucher for a tank of gas!
You should have gotten that in writing, ha.
