im thinking of selling my 99 rangerover

I am having a lot of issues with my '99 Range Rover. The radiator blew, a/c never cools, gear box is faulty, brakes are not as good as they used to be, and the air suspension will probably blow up pretty soon. I was looking at the FJ cruiser and it seems to be a great buy and an outstanding offroader. I just want to know if the FJ cruiser is more reliable than my Range Rover because I don't want to face as many mechanical problems as I have with my current car.

Ofcourse it is. We have one in Kuwait its a 1998 autobiography we are having alot of problems with it till now. My dad is a Range Rover Fan since the 80's but after this one he just hated the Rover. I have an FJ and i could say its much better than that Range Rover.

BTW the air suspension blow up 3 times with ours.

definitely more reliable. we have a 01 disco here too just as an extra car for company and stuff. its a good car, but i cant stand driving it. my neighbor has a range, not sure what year though. he doesnt have problems with his, yet. they are just too expensive to fix for no appearant reason.

Reliable is toyota's middle name... ok not really but it is very reliable. From going to a range rover to a toyota it would seem you may lose a few luxury comforts though. I was looking at landrovers as well, but Toyota is one of the best built vehicles in the world.

Re: im thinking of selling my 99 rangerover

Since Ford invested into their PAG (Premium Auto Group: Volvo, Rage Rover, Jaguar) the results have been rather mixed..... they improved Volvo's style, improved Jaguar's reliability, but Range Rover kinda slid down a bit.

Toyota has a solid repuation for reliability. They've had some issues with the new Tundra, but overall Toyota builds rock solid vehicles. If you look closely at the specs of the FJ to see how it's engineered, you'll be quite amazed.

Re: im thinking of selling my 99 rangerover

The big red flag on the FJ is the body bulges. You might want to read about that before purchasing. Still gonna be light years better than an aging Rover in terms of reliability.
