Picking up my new FJ tomorrow

So, a year and a half has passed. It's been that long in the making, but I'm on board. I pick up my new FJ tomorrow evening. I'll post photos when I get it home but here are some shots I took at the dealership-this is the exact truck.
Interesting/frustrating note - the FJ won't fit in my garage with the darn rack (for all of those who don't know, with the rack, the FJ is almost 80"!). I am therefore purchasing it with the rack and having them take it off (I'll store it away until I need it). I'm assuming there's no harmin doing this, or fitting the truck with the white plastic caps over the rack mount points, which I think they'll get to me in a few days. Please let me know if there is a problem with taking the factory rack off/sealing/water!!! (it's actually raining in LA!).
Anyhow-super excited!

Re: Picking up my new FJ tomorrow

Thanks guys! I've been a long-time lurker and this is a GREAT forum!
Yes, it's going to be rough 24 hours waiting for this one!
It's fairly incredible it has taken so long to finally get this FJ. And I'm glad I didn't skimp on this one. I got the options that I thought were important (though I'd dispute the effectiveness of the factory rock rails and skid plate). At least the locker and ATRAC-important things to have in Los Angeles...no, seriously, we plan on "getting lost" with this FJ.
My wife and I are talking about taking it to Costa Rica next winter (their summer) to visit her family.
I stopped by the dealer this evening to go over some paperwork and it was ready for delivery (and tucked away in a safe spot for me )-boy what a beauty!
As soon as I get it home, I'll post some more photos.

Re: Picking up my new FJ tomorrow

The effectiveness of the skids is more in question than the rock rails.

The OEM rails seem thick enough and do bolt directly to the frame, unlike the step rails that bolt to the body.

Plus if you have the aluminum steam-shovel skid, you lose some clearance and it will eventually ding-up real good and get taco'd if you know what I mean.

Congrats again! ....and yes an expedition to southerly latitudes would be awesome!!!

Re: Picking up my new FJ tomorrow

Nice rig!

I had the same problem with the roof rack height after putting on the 3" lift. I saw the All-Pro FJ (before they came out with their own roof rack) with the "roof rack diet." It isn't so hard to do and drops the height of the rack about 3" by just removing the top section of the rack. I think it looks great IMHO.

I fumbled through it before finding this great thread over at IH8Mud.

Enjoy the new truck!
