march 1st accident - some damage

since STOP signs are apparently optional in Massachusetts, i started off March with a crunch.

i watched a mercury montaineer pull up to an intersection and accelerate right through the stop sign directly into my path. Life turned to slow motion as i watched her lock up her breaks in the middle of the road - realizing she had forgotten to look both ways.

I hit the brakes and ABS allowed me to swerve to the right...only to meet her back passenger side door with my front left bumper.

luckily, no one was hurt.

the woman was a bit frantic and her lap dog was a bit uneasy as well. she took complete blame and was given a citation on the spot.

the vehicle is operational, although the crash pushed the quarter-panel back so i cannot open my driver door more than 3-4 inches. climbing out the passenger door is no fun.

my airbags did not deploy but im looking at some serious damage...so level with me...how does this look???

Ouch! Sorry to hear about that. Glad everybody was ok even the dog. Well I guess it is time to upgrade to a steal bumper at her cost.

Re: march 1st accident - some damage

Looks like it sucks.... but seeing as how the roads are wet I suppose it could have been much worse......I guess thats what insurance is for.

Re: march 1st accident - some damage

Glad to see everyone OK, looks like one of those minor blemishes that cost a lot.

I bet you have bulging fenders now if you didn't before.

Re: march 1st accident - some damage

Sorry to offend anyone from MA, but I observed the same phenomenon on my forays into the state as well - optional stop at stop signs...

Yup! Time to upgrade the front bumper! Glad you were not seriously injured!

Re: march 1st accident - some damage

Now that sucks I hope it all turns out good in the end.

On a side note this is the main reason I got big bumper, this would of have done a lot of damage to her and minimal to you.

The initial price of the bumper may turn some off but when stuff like this happens it puts it all in perspective.

Re: march 1st accident - some damage

wrong spot for the buldge but glad that you are ok and if it pushed the fender back and you cant open the door that will be some moderate body work hope that ladys insurance will cover and i would go for the all pro bumper ( Thats what i have and i love it)
