New to FJs, not to Toys

We still haven't made the jump to the FJ, but it's just a matter of time.

We had made up our minds to get a black '07, but by the time we figured out the options, the '08s came along, and we really like the monochrome look of the TT SE, although white wasn't really a color we would normally consider.

Now it's back to checking out the options list; it seems that if you get the TT, you can't get the CQ Convenience Package, and, of course, trying to find a 6-speed manual FJ anywhere is almost impossible.

This is going to be wheeled. We want the A-Trac, diff locks, 6-speed manual, etc. It's going to get a suspension, and I already have 3 sets of factory steelies for it in the garage: 1 set bare, 1 set with Wrangler SA's, and a set with Swamper LTB's.

Also, we have yet to drive one of the things. We have rented Prados in Australia, so we're pretty familiar with the underpinnings, but we're looking to rent one for a week or so to finalize our decision. Anybody that can point us to a rental place near San Jose/SF that has FJ's?

As for history, we currently have a '97 FJ80 with the center locking diff, and an '81 RN SR5 4x4 pickup with 5-speed, 22R, Detroit Locker rear, TruTrac front, suspension, etc. I've had FJ40s and a 62, too.

Anyway, that's our story.

Re: New to FJs, not to Toys

I don't know where to rent, but I saw a few 6-speed manual Trail Teams editions this week here in Utah for sale. If nothing else, at least I know where you can buy one!
