Hi from Buffalo (Amherst)

Not an official owner yet, but I thought I'd introduce myself. I have a 2010 coming the end of November... my first FJ, and first time Toyota owner. My cousin’s husband loves his Tundra and help point me in this direction.

I've been a pickup truck owner for 23 years with lots of 4WD drive experience (think Buffalo = snow)... I’ve had a used '78 F-150 2WD back in the mid-80's while going to college. Then my first new vehicles, a '87 Jeep Comanche 4x4 (absolutely loved that truck and its 4L in-line 6). I then traded that in for what turned out to be a stretch of Dodge RAMs… ’94 1500 standard cab long bed 4x4 (5.9L, red over silver just like in the commercials when they introduced the new body style). That one got totaled and I then bought a ’97 club cab short bed 1500 4x4 (5.9L, black) and finally a ’04 quad cab long bed 2500 4x4 (5.7L Hemi, grey, the “beast” – 22+ feet long!). Although I will always consider myself to be a “truck guy”, I just have no use for one anymore… my boat is gone and the ATV is only used for plowing the driveway now. Honestly, I’m kind of sad to see it go, but…

My Toyota dealer gave me a real good deal and trade for the first SUV I’ve ever owned. I was looking at the Jeep Wranglers and just don’t like the newer models… and the gas mileage sucks on them. Going from a truck that gets ~9 MPG city / 14 MPG Hwy to what I hope is nearly double that, will be a nice side-benefit.., and parking this thing will be a snap (I’m used to mirrors).

I can’t wait to get it. Anyway… Hi to all.
