Bury Trees to fight Global Warming

Environmentalists aren't just a menace to the economy and our liberties. Their hunger for destructive theories in which they fervently believe can also make them a threat to the environment they so piously worship.

The notion that carbon has suddenly become environmentally toxic has led some to advocate cutting down live trees and burying them so that the deadly CO2 cannot escape the rotting wood and make it stop being so cold out.

This excerpt is from the UN's Carbon Balance and Management journal:

"...Here a carbon sequestration strategy is proposed in which certain dead or live trees are harvested via collection or selective cutting, then buried in trenches or stowed away in above-ground shelters. The largely anaerobic condition under a sufficiently thick layer of soil will prevent the decomposition of the buried wood."

One of the reasons CO2 is not a toxin but a highly necessary component of our atmosphere is that trees absorb it and then release the oxygen we breathe. If we buried enough trees, we really would have an environmental crisis.

You know, one volcano eruption produces more CO2, CO, and other harmfull stuff than humans have contributed in our whole existance? Are we going to bury volcanos too?

Re: Bury Trees to fight Global Warming

Just wait, all of the liberal theories about social responsibility and their attempts to prevent people from harming themselves (tobacco, obesity, guns, environment) will all one day coalesce into a crazy singular notion like carbon rationing.

Imagine, each human being could be alloted a certain amount of carbon credits to spend over their lifetime in the form of food, transportation, entertainment, etc. If you go over your amount - like get too fat or travel too much - you'll be fined (taxed) severely or even cut-off. Sound crazy? I bet there are folks in D.C. on both sides of the aisle that might find this idea appealing. I hope they don't read about it here...

Oh, for the record, I don't think that all forms of carbon credits are a bad idea and if done' properly, would be a fine standardized currency for taking care of the environment. I doubt that there are many on this forum who in addition to enjoying their FJ, also care about the natural environment very much. Am I wrong?
