Re: Predator poison - Please read

Why don't they call these what they really are... a Land Mine. The US government has signed treaties banning them. The government is billing these as a "targeted" device, but that is a bald faced lie. These things are no more "targeted" than a Bouncing Betty mine. They are designed to kill anything that touches it. Using poisoned hot dogs is one thing, or maybe 50-100 years ago. But this beyond my comprehension in the year 2008. All, you have to do is step on it. You probably won't ingest enough of the poison to kill you, but there's a good chance you will go to the hospital, and maybe have lasting problems. Also, it appears that the locations where they are placing them are sometimes pretty brainless.

Holy S&*t, I have spent my life outdoors all over the U.S., a lot of it on National Forest, BLM land, and on farm and ranch land in West Texas. This is the first time I have seen these. I guess I am just not paying attention. I have to tell you these things scare the hell out of me. Not, just for my self but my kids (not to mention my dog). I know that predation of livestock is a problem that must be dealt with, but this is a stupid, dangerous way to do it.

Just a thought... What if someone wanted to make a WMD with these. Just learn how to disarm them, wear some protective clothing in case you screw-up, collect a bunch of them off BLM land for FREE, and bingo you gotcha the main ingredient for a nice little killing device.

WTF is wrong with these people? They have SH&^ for brains, that's what's wrong with them.

OK, the "Rant" Light is now "OFF". Everyone can come out now.

Sounds like a no-win situation for everybody. If a hunt is organized by a landowner or a local jurisdiction, the greenies and out hiding in the bushes with antlers on their heads trying to get themselves shot. Anytime the government gets involved, it's guaranteed to get screwed up and be very expensive. If you use chemcials or traps, something gets into it that shouldn't be there. The greenies post the picture and traps are evil. If a farmers rides around with a shotgun, everyone thinks he/she is a psycho serial killer.

Maybe we should get the old school mafia involved? They'd wack the critters nice and quiet. No witnesses. Baddabing. Done.
