Exclamation Humboldt-Toiyabe N.F. are preparing an EA for Austin and Tonopah

BLUERIBBON COALITION ACTION ALERT

Attention Nevada Recreationists!

Located in central Nevada, the Austin and Tonopah Ranger Districts of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest are preparing an Environmental Assessment for Austin and Tonopah Combined Travel Management Project. The Notice of Proposed Action (NOPA) was published (legal notice) in the Battle Mountain Bugle on March 4, 2009.

A description of the Proposed Action and a summary of the potential effects of the Proposed Action is available for review on the Humboldt-Toiyabe web site at: Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest - Projects & Plans.

Please keep in mind that any road or trail not on the final map will be CLOSED! The FS says it this way:
"Following issuance of this decision, all roads and trails designated for motor vehicle use would be identified on a motor vehicle use map. Motor vehicle use that is not consistent with the designations on the map will be prohibited under the terms of 36 CFR 261.13."

The Forest Service encourages your comments on this proposed action, along with supporting reasons, for consideration by the responsible official in reaching a decision. Comments should include the information required pursuant to 36 CFR 215.6(a)(3), as published in the Federal Register on June 4, 2003. Your comments will be used to help complete the environmental analysis and make a decision on the proposed action and any alternatives. If you would prefer to receive a CD or a hard copy of the document, please contact the Austin Ranger District at (775)964-2671.
