Hey all,
I'm new here and figured I would wait until I had something good to share for my first post, and I hope this qualifies! : )
Anyway, here is a recent mod I completed by integrating a LED light bar into the upper hood vent. The vent is only about an inch tall, so I really had to search around to find something small enough to fit, but bright enough to be serious. After weeks of research (including possibly building one myself) I ran across the Feniex Titan 600 (http://feniex.com/category.php?cat_id=39) and it looked perfect— only 0.95" inches high and 4800 lumens! The other positive was that it was relatively inexpensive when compared to other off-road light bars I've seen, and if it was good enough for emergency, rescue and police, I figured it had to be of good quality. Turns out it was perfect for the job.
Although the light was a perfect fit for the size of the vent, it was slightly deeper than the recess into the hood would allow, so I had to take the ol' die grinder and clear out a bit of the hood metal behind it. Also, I believe that there might be enough room for the Titan 800 if you wanted more light, but it's hard to say for certain.
Anyway, if you want a more detailed overview of the build, I'd be happy to post some more explanation and pictures! I hope you enjoy!
